It's almost like 3Dconnexion company is in a crisis mode ever since its split with Logitech, with high employee turnover rate...the driver is a nightmare for some people... At least I can load the driver manually. The product works great and it hasn't taken long to get used to it,love the critter.

How about reset the PC OS? There's a 'Reset this PC' button in Windows 10 OS.
The option is close to doing a fresh install, keeps documents etc and removes all programs. The time needed to accomplish this task is not on the radar screen until late next year .

Strange. Try extract twice the installer with 7-zip and run the install wizard within the 3DxWare folder. Same issue, nothing changes. Reinstall Windows 10. Other program installs are normal. I think something is missing in the driver package.
