Maybe a Sonoma 4.1 issues.

For me it worked flawlessly but on Vectorworks Forums I also read
about issues lately. Some do not get the permission popups or the
popup for Security, for others installation stalls.

While you install you get 2-3 popups asking for permissions in Apples Privacy Settings.
(Automation, ....) and another main permission in Security, where you have to
open the link/button to Security, to allow 3DConnexion.
This confirmation option will disappear after 30 minutes.

What Mac hardware do you use ? I am on Sonoma 14.4.1 with a M1 Mac Mini. I installed or updated the 10.8.4 over my 10.8.3 and it worked flawlessly. I can navigate with the 3D knob in Blender without it shutting down the Mac Mini.
No instabilities here.

Just want to say that 10.8.3 upgrade worked for me on M1
without any issues.

But I think I upgraded the driver quite late,
AFTER the latest Sonoma 14.3 (23D56) upgrade.

Hmmh, I have similar Settings in NDOF. But that is all about the 6 axis 3D control, which for me always worked with Enterprice or old Space Navigator. But nothing about button assignments. So why Enterprise fails submitting standard SHIFT, CTRL, ALT, ... keys, or assigning keystrokes to 1-12 buttons.

Interestingly "Keystroke HOME" (= Blender Fit View) works from my CADMouse. But not from any Enterprise key assignments. These have usually NO or an erratoc behavior in Blender. E.G. all standard ESC/TAB/... buttons are ignored, some of the 1-12 buttons do View changes or nothing, some oth...

Well, for me it works wit Sonoma, in the way it always worked on Mac. CADMouse started sporadic left click issues after 4 years of second replacement. AFAIR for me it helped to delete all 3DConnexion entries in Privacy and Security
and going to 3DCon Driver Settings.
