If it helps, I modified one of the sample programs to send arrow key events for tilting, as well as ctrl-minus and ctrl-plus for zooming. (As well as driving the mouse pointer). It isn't anywhere near as seamless as native support, but it works. I might be able to get it in a form that you could use...

Okay... I have an example of an app (well, a game) that would benefit from a generic joystick driver: Descent II It actually has 6DOF movement. I've used a SpaceOrb before. There are *definitely* uses for a generic joystick driver. I -- as well as the rest of the community here -- would LOVE one. At...

You guys (3Dconnexion) are *seriously* missing out on an awesome potential use. 3D use is great, but if I have a SpaceNavigator on my desk -- especially using a laptop without a scroll wheel -- being able to use it for 2D scrolling (and zooming -- I've rigged up pushing down to send Ctrl-plus and pu...

SpaceNavigator as arrows keys/mouse pointer

Hey--
If anyone's curious (and knows Visual Basic), it's pretty easy to modify the VB sample program 3Dconnexion has on the SDK site to send arrow keys and/or move the mouse pointer.

Quite nice being able to scroll in Firefox with my SpaceNavigator :-)

If anyone wants more info, just ask.

(Couldn't seem to find an edit function...)

Okay... turns out if I turn off the driver, DirectX can detect it as a joystick... but it still doesn't show up in Game Controllers.

Come on guys... it *almost* works as a joystick!

SpaceNavigator as standard USB joystick when not in 3D apps

Hey-- I know that there are already threads for this... Anyway, I just got a SpaceNavigator. I absolutely *love* it; it works beautifully in Google Earth and Blender. However, I can't help but think of all sorts of other neat stuff to do with it -- controlling MIDI devices, playing games, etc -- tha...

Thanks. You guys might want to have it pop up a message like "Device not found". Or better yet, have it launch the driver with an obvious, easily-noticable message saying that there's no device attached, but still let users play with the settings. I can't wait for it to arrive :-D -- J.P.

3DxWare Control Panel doesn't launch without device attached

Hey-- I'm on Vista Ultimate 32-bit. I'm getting a SpaceNavigator in the mail today; I installed the driver yesterday, and can't get the control panel to show up. I just tried setting it to run as administrator; that didn't help. Blender seems to be able to connect to the driver (from the console mes...

Thanks. I might be willing to beta test; if I know I'll have a use for a SpaceNavigator, I might be willing to buy one now (or sometime soon). As for software: Mac OS X "Tiger" 10.4.1 1.33GHz iBook G4, 512MB RAM, 60GB HD (I really hope you guys decide to support PowerPC. There are still (p...

Mac OS X support?

Hey--
The new SpaceNavigator looks great. Is there any way to use it on Mac OS X 10.4?
