Here are some answers to commonly asked questions about installing / using 3D Mice in the UNIX environment.

 

AIX, Solaris, HP-UX Questions

1. How do I install the file I downloaded from the 3Dconnexion webpage?
A complete set of install instructions are provided on the download driver page. It's best if you refer to this text document for the latest install instructions . In short, you will need to gunzip the package, unpack the tar file and then run the install script.

2. My USB 3D Mouse is not recognized on my UNIX machine.
Please refer to the install instructions for your UNIX flavor. Some operating systems require particular patch levels to allow USB 3D Mice to be used on UNIX platforms. All required patch levels are listed in the installation instructions.

3. My 3D Mouse is still not recognized on my Sun Workstation even after a loaded the required patches from Sun.

In some cases you will need to run a script provided by Sun Microsystems to open the USB port. Here is a link to the information and the script on the Sun website...
