San Jose, Calif. – Aug. 7, 2007 – 3Dconnexion, a Logitech company, today announced a public beta release of plug-ins that allow its line of 3D mice to support Blender, a free, open-source, 3D-content-creation software suite. Designers and animators can now use 3Dconnexion’s SpaceNavigator™ 3D mouse with Blender for a better design experience when animating, rendering, modeling, texturing, and creating interactive 3D applications, including game creation. 3Dconnexion is offering support for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux versions of Blender. 3Dconnexion’s 3D mice enable seamless control and navigation of 3D objects and scenes. The SpaceNavigator 3D mouse, the newest addition to 3Dconnexion’s product line, features an easy-to-use controller cap that can be pulled, tilted or twisted to simultaneously pan, zoom and rotate 3D models with greater ease and more control than can be achieved with a traditional computer mouse alone.Pressure-sensing technology and intuitive software allow designers to easily accelerate or decelerate actions by varying the amount of pressure on the cap.

“The Blender community will benefit from using the SpaceNavigator with Blender’s free and open-source 3D creation suite,” said Ziva Nissan, 3Dconnexion’s director of product marketing. “3Dconnexion’s devices not only simplify 3D navigation and control, but add an element of fun for designers and animators alike, enhancing the overall Blender experience.”

Five stars for 3Dconnexion from BlenderBuilds for its efforts to date.”
