Function Keys Display

Postby Wayne Estes » Wed Feb 22, 2012 9:08 am

I don't know if it is a conflict with my keyboard or not but each day I boot up I either get the Space Pilot Pro to show 6 different functions (Outlook, profiles, ect) but no function key assignments shown (they do work, just can't see them displayed) and my keyboard display correctly shows the clock or I get function keys and outlook tasks on the SP display and my keyboard display is in screen saver mode. The function keys will display when pushed then flash back to

Function Keys
outlook tasks

It is hilighted on "function keys" but when I press the OK button it doesn't display them. The hilight won't move off function keys either. My hard ware info is below.

Any ideas?

This morning I have my keyboard display working fine and the SP Pro shows

LCD clock
Outlook calender
Outlook tasks
Picture Viewer

How do I get the function keys to display?

After re-booting the computer the SP Pro comes up with

Function Keys
LCD clock
Performance Monitor
LCD countdown timer
Outlook mail
Outlook Calender
Outlook tasks
Pitcher Viewer

Now I can display the function keys. Seems I have to re-start the computer until I get all SPP functions to work. Is there a way to re-start the SSP without re-starting the computer? I know this is a beta driver but am I the only one having this problem? And because it affects weither my keyboard display works or goes into screen saver mode, is there a conflict between the two?

Anyone, Bueler?

Hello Wayne Estes,

the G15 and the SpacePilot PRO are both using the LCD Manager software from Logitech. Do you see an improvement if you do not connect the SPP while booting and plug it into the machine right after Windows is up and before you log in? Or after you logged in?

I re-installed the driver for the keyboard and it seams to be responding now. The SPP booted up correctly (1st time) first thing this morning with all 8 functions in the display. I will see if it stays constant each morning this week.

Looking through the posts someone had mentioned changing priority to one of the processes in the task manager and I tried that. Don't know if that made a difference because the setting reverted to normal again and I don't see a way to tell priority of startup of processes.

Is there a way to re-boot the SPP with out shutting down the computer?

Is there an issue with Solidworks menus? I don't have anything in the LH column to apply to the button list on the RH column (using the menu in SWX task bar). All other programs I have been able to program.

Your problem with not having anything to map might be due to a currupted SolidWorks installation. I recommend to make a fresh installation of your SolidWorks.

1st boot up this morning I had 4 icons on the SPP. Re-boot and had 3. Re-boot and had two. Re-boot and 2 again. Re-boot then 3. Re-boot then 5. None with the function keys icon displayed. Each time my display on the G-15 keyboard will show the clock but it pulses with the CPU meter flashing every second. I'm thinking I need to switch back to the standard SPP driver instead of the beta driver. This is just not working for me.

Switched back to the standard driver for the SPP. Re-boot twice and still don't get the function key icon to come up but they work. I now have full SWX list showing to assign buttons. I think my problems are related to conflict between the SPP and the G-15 key board. I will have to plug in a standard key board to verify.

I'm having a related issue, where no matter what application I use, I get "Application Use"on the LCD for every application I use the 3DMouse 10 Drivers for, Max, Firefox, and Maya that's not why I bought a Display on my mouse to look inside of the 3D app to see what stuff is mapped to... so either I'm doing something terribly wrong, or the 3DMouse drivers are not written for the SpacePilotPro.

Why are updates so lethargic, it seems like updates are 1-2 Years apart... I'm seriously considering un-installing 10 and going back to 3.X as I've been waiting since Last August for some of the issues to be addressed.

I am still using the beta driver but had to go back to a previous G-15 keyboard driver. Solidworks is the only program that doesn't display the assigments. Fred helped alot to track it down to the conflict between the SSP driver and Logitech G-15 (newest) driver. I am also waiting for a fix to come out on the beta driver.

That sounds like a PITA... but I don't even have a G-x Logitech Keyboard, I've thought about getting one, but definitely NOT for my work PC... I get strange enough looks jut for having a SpacePilot at my desk... that I purchased... (It's not very common in the entertainment industry, and it's partially because prior to 10 nothing other than max and maya worked with it) We use a lot of specialized programs like Retopo, and 3D Paint programs, as well as 3D Compositing, all of which are not on 3D Connexion's radar...

The crazy thing is THAT was the very reason I bought one, I figured if I had a common platform between all my 3D software, I'd be more efficient, and have to struggle less with interfaces, and could focus on being productive.
