3DxService crash in Internet Explorer 8

I think the 3DxService is failing in Internet Explorer 8 - consistently. When I am scrolling with my SpaceNavigator and I click a link, an unhandled exception forces the Service to close if the cap is still tilted.

After the unhandled exception, I restart the 3DxService. But when I go to use the SpaceNavigator in Solidworks, Solidworks freezes and I have to force it to close. I can't get it all to work again unless I log off and log back in.
