Well if you fix that issue, yes zbrush experimental support is similar to a native support with dominant axis on (cause we can't interact on multiple axis at once due to the macro limitation). That's why I was making an heavy emphasis on that issue.

If you can get the interaction of Wacom tablets sorted I could live with the dominant axis like behavior. Though I'd prefer multiple axis movement if possible.

Just seeing any movement towards zBrush support is very exciting.

Honestly if Mudbox gets native support there will be a copy of zBrush on the market cheap. I'll switch in a New York minute to which ever app makes it in to the the 21 century first.

Quoted for total agreement.

Hi mattcscz,

Are the demos working? Are you running the application as admin?

Start menu -> All Programs -> 3Dconnexion -> Demos.

But it's a moot point now: you have stated that it works fine with 3ds Max and Maya. That's a good enough data point.

Have you edited the "Zbrush" file in any way?

No folder for ZBrush. The support for the application is something completely different. (Did we say it is experimental?)

The driver is is emulating the normal mouse, using ZBrush's Right-Click Navigation feature.

Perhaps this is the issue? Can you use the right mouse button to move the view?

Sorry, mattcscz. I managed to miss that...

Are you positive you are not running ZBrush as admin (you can check the "Security" of the ZBrush process properties in Process Explorer)?

Also, can you tell us what is the process name of ZBrush? We have "ZBRUSH.EXE" in the profile for ZBrush 4 and it may happen that the academic build has a different executable file name.

I cannot read anything on that image. I can only find a low resolution screenshot.

Anyway, your software should be not run as administrator. If you must run the application as admin, then the driver (3DxService.exe) must also be started as admin.

It does not matter if the login uses is an administrator: the problem is that selecting "run as administrator" will give elevated privileges to a program and, in doing so, prevents the driver from communicating with the application.

Try this: exit the driver (right-click on the systray icon and select "Exit 3DxService"), then go to C:\Program Files\3Dconnexion\3DxWinCore\ and right-click on the 3DxService.exe file and select "Run as administrator". Then try to see if you get some response in ZBrush.

If that works, you have ZBrush running as elevated. This is a problem.

Note: we do not recommend running any program (including the 3DxService driver) with elevated privileges as this may degrade the security of the operating system.
