The ENTER or Return Keystroke ... lack there of??

Postby dtipton » Fri Apr 22, 2011 7:38 pm

I have a SpaceNavigator and wanted to use it with MSFSX for controlling Eyepoint and Pan.

Eye point Right uses CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER
Eye point Up uses Shift-ENTER
Eye point Back uses Ctrl-ENTER

I press [ENTER] for the Keystroke with CTRL and SHIFT as modifiers but [ENTER] doesn't appear. Can't spell ENTER because the input just takes the letter E.

How do you set the profile to send an [ENTER] or [RETURN] keystroke??

Is it that the 3DxWare is not capable of sending an ENTER keystroke or is it that the profile properties manager is not capable of detecting the keystroke?

Although I could reassign the keystrokes from within FSX to not use ENTER but if MS can detect/record an ENTER keystroke ... why not 3Dconnexion.

Thanks for your help. dtipton

Hello dtipton -

The Enter key can be mapped to a button rather than to an axis direction. On the Buttons tab, choose 'Keyboard' from the Select Function drop-down and 'Enter key' is available.

That's just a limitation in the GUI. I've added the ability to enter "Enter" in that field for beta 10. You can also just change the XML so you don't have to wait for beta 10.

There might be a different limitation on having two modifiers (shift+ctrl). Only one modifier may work; so it may not do you any good. That's an actual bug (not fixed for beta 10).

Your example suggests that you would rather control the head, than the plane. Are you planning on trying to control both at the same time (different axes)? Or are you just assigning these keys to the buttons? Two different devices could be used. One for the head. One for the plane.
