Coming soon to 3DxWare 10 Beta for Windows!

Postby 3Dconnexion » Tue Apr 05, 2011 2:07 am

Less than one week ago 3Dconnexion released the first public beta of 3DxWare 10 for both Windows and Mac OS X. The response has been tremendous with feedback coming in from many different directions (Facebook, Twitter, Forum, 3DxLabs e-mail, comment sections, and more).

Among all the suggestions and ideas for improvement, one request has been loud and clear: Support for SpacePilot.

We have listened and we are very pleased to announce that support for SpacePilot will be added to 3DxWare 10 Beta for Windows.

The development schedule is now being reviewed. Beta 9 for Windows is nearing completion and will proceed as planned, with a release expected on or before Friday 8th April. We are targeting SpacePilot support in Beta 10 which will follow 3 to 4 weeks later.

Beta 9 (Windows)
- Fix: Keyboard modifier keys on device are now released;
- Change: Tab key can now be entered in macro editor and Advanced Motion page.
- Additionally, we have made some minor stabilisation fixes to driver and installer.

Beta 10 (Windows)
- New: SpacePilot support on 3DxWare 10 for Windows
- Change: Performance improvements to the Properties panel
- Change: Improvements to 2D mouse emulation

Edit: Beta 9 was made available for download on April 8, 2011.
Edit 2: Beta 10 was made available for download on May 5, 2011.

Now that the spacepilot issue is (almost) past, I'm eager to see what you come up with the 2d move improvement (if this is what I think that could finally means zbrush with 3dconnexion :) )

Listen! Did you hear that sound?

That was the sound of all of the used Space Pilots disappearing on eBay.

Thanks for the inclusion.. Much appreciated.. I knew you would.. Taking a poll like that is like yelling "Who wants ICE CREAM?" in a car full of kids.. No one does that and doesn't deliver. I'm excited to take part in these exciting new developments.

I do wonder this -> Do you think that the 6dof style of motion control used in 3d connexion products could be emulated via head or hand tracking using a web cam or a kinect device? Seems like it would work! I would be interested to know your thoughts..

:D very impressive example that pictures exactly the views of all SP owners.

I guess this is only to explained with the management department that decides otherwise, to keep development resources as low as possible. Now that dozens of SP owners took part of the poll, it finally made the way to the management department.

And about the Kinect thing, I think this is a different pair of shoes. Totally different.
