Hi,

In my opinion the Spacepilot has immense potential that is totally wasted.

I have an excellent idea that will cut the time working with Photoshop by half or more (In my opinion).

I use Photoshop mainly for art and textures.
In Photoshop I have to manipulate all kinds of commands in menus to change the brushs preferences.
What I suggest is to use the Spacepilot axises, while holding a key to change to a Brush mod:

Zoom - Changes Brush Size
Tilt F\B - Changes Brush Hardness
Tilt L\R - Changes Brush Roundness
Rotate - Changes Brush Angel
Pan F\B - Changes Brush Opacity
Pan L\R - Changes Brush Flow.

Using those commands in all the tools such as clone stamp tool, Eraser, quick selection tool, blur, dodge is just the tip of the Iceberg.

Creating this kind of mods for all kinds of software such as Photoshop, Maya, Mudbox, Zbrush etc...
Working with them will become more fun and less time consuming,
Artists could concentrate on their Ideas and not on how to do somersaults with the softwares such as above to reach their Dreams.

Also in Photoshop, I was wondering if possible to add an option to rotate the canvas the Rotate Axis.

I hope that my Ideas will inspire many more.

Sincerely,

Chen Cohen.

The next version of 3DxWare has the ability to send arbitrary keys on the motion axes. But you suggest being able to temporarily enter this mode by holding down a button. This would allow you to quickly toggle between brush-parameter mode and pan/zoom mode. We have had several suggestions from the beta testers for this sort of temporary mode. What button did you want to press? A 3Dx device button or a keyboard button.

You will have difficulty separating data from each axis, so you don't get interference between, say, brush size and brush hardness. You will have to turn on the dominant filter to get good separation of one axis at a time. You may also want to set a sizable dead band on each axis.

Hi,

Using the shift key would be most logical, It's been used in photoshop to change the brush hardness with these brackets keys [ ] and It's placed just in right place on my Space Pilot.

Also, I was thinking more like controlling the range of the brush size for example with the zoom with an acceleration control rather then giving one command at the time that will require taping on zoom control and not quite helpful.

You could add more commands while holding the alt or ctrl keys and also could control color variation and more brush controls.

I'm doing quite O.k. with the 3D mouse and hardly get any interference while working with maya. Surely it will require some fine tuning, anyhow I believe I would manage.

Is it possible to make the 3dx driver to recognise which app is in front like the wacom driver? that will allow even more customization, and would save the time taping on the config button for different apps that has no add-ins or plug-ins.

And another Idea for the road, I would be another good application of the zoom, pan, tilt axis in Explorer browsing and Internet browsing.

To tell you the Truth I've grown quite attached to the Spacepilot, some more Customization and I would hardly ever use my Keyboard any more (except for typing of course), Keep on doing an excellent work!

And Thanks for the quick replay,

Sincerely,

Chen Cohen
