works... and NOT works

OK... this is weird. Using the latest drivers, on a PPC Quad G5 Mac running 10.5.2, with 8 gigs RAM I get this:

The test programs within system prefs work just fine. That means that the hardware is seen and is communicating.

But - nothing- else will respond. Not QuickTime; not GoogleEarth; not D2-dxl; not Safari (zoom)... nothing!

So I tried controllermate... and got exactly the same results!

What extremely simple thing am I missing?

found it... the file I downloaded (from this site) was mapping to my trackball instead of the 3DConnexion. Sorry for the wasted bandwidth.
