3DS max 9 64bit

I have recently purchased a space navigator with a view to upgrading if i like using it.

I have had good success with it in Max 8 but I am currently testing Max 9 and can not get the device to work under Max 9 64bit (XP64)

has anyone else had problems? I get a dlu error when max starts and is unable to load the plugin/script or whatever.
