Hi Emma -
The 2 areas to check are power and security software. For the initial device recognition , make sure the laptop is plugged into AC power. The 3Dconnexion devices need full USB power. If the SpaceNavigator for Notebooks is not recognized in one port, try the other USB ports.
The 3Dconnexion software installation needs to be run from a profile with full administrator privileges. You can go to our
drivers page and download the most recent driver.
When Windows recognizes the SpaceNavigator for Notebooks it will install the HID component that allows it to be added to the "Human Interface Devices" category as shown here
here. When that happens there is a message 'Windows is installing the software for your new hardware' that refers to the HID software rather than to the 3Dconnexion software.
Once the SpaceNavigator for Notebooks is recognized, if the driver is not able to start, check whether security software on the computer is blocking the 3Dconnexion driver. If this is what you are seeing , you will need to add an exception to your firewall to allow 3dxsrv.exe.
If you are still seeing a problem, let us know what you have tried and if you have tried installing on another PC.
