Solidworks Botton Mapping

Postby Wayne Estes » Wed Feb 29, 2012 3:57 pm

I don't have any botton mapping capability. The menu is blank. Does this mean I have to re-install the driver?

Your problem with not having anything to map might be due to a corrupted SolidWorks installation. I recommend to make a fresh installation of your SolidWorks.

I have the button mapping with the regular divice driver, don't have it with the beta driver. My co-worker has the same issue. We are both on new desktop computers bought 1 month ago with SW 2012 installs.

Are you saying that after installing the SPP beta driver I should re-install Solidworks.

Lets see if its the add-in thats the problem or if theres a registry key issue.

Can you download the 3.15.2 driver.
Dont install.
Hopefully you have a zip uitility like winzip or 7Zip
Right click on the download file and unzip
( Select desktop and give it a name 3Dxware)
Next open the folder.
Youll see one file
Right click on the file and unzip one more time.

Now before proceeding go to add remove programs (Programs and Feature on Win 7).
select 3Dconnexion
Choose change
Select Modify
Uncheck Solidworks Add-in
Click next

Now go back to the file you unizipped
Open Components 32
Select Solidworks
click on 3DxSolidWorks32.msi

This will install the Addin.

Reboot then open Solidworks and a file.
Next open the Pop-Up Menu for SolidWorks It can be opened with the Menu/Panel Button (SpaceNavigator family: left button) on your 3D Mouse.
Click on Key assignments
Do you see the Tool Tree?

Let us know the results.

Ok, you lost me at open components 32.

I only have the one file from the driver. Where do I find components 32?

Sorry, network lag dropped one line of text out of my instructions.

Unzip the file one more time into the folder you created

This will give you a component 32 and component 64 if im not mistaken.
Open the folder for the version of Solidworks your running then choose the .msi file.

The file from the drivers site has a 32-bit and 64-bit version of 3-15-2_r1219 which are exe files, not zipped files. Is there another area to download from where the file is zipped?

I had installed that driver when I switched from Space Pilot to SPP. Called tech to see why the SPP did not work in word, excel, ect and was told that I need to go to the beta version. I un-installed 3-15-2 and installed 10-0-11_r1165. I have un-installed the beta and went back to the standard driver and found SW menu does work but had problems with my settings sticking in my other cadd program. Un-installed the standard and went back to the beta driver where I am now. Both drivers are exe files and were not zipped from 3Dconnection.

I am using SW 64-bit in Windows 7. Can I get the component 64 from somewhere else? My e-mail is ************ if you can send the file.

You can still unzip the driver just right click and choose unzip to foler

After unzipping open the folder and right click on the file inisde and unzip one more time.

Sorry i cant send executable files our mail server strips the attachments.

Otherwise, we'l have to wait for a programmer to reply.
This is a Beta driver and its still being worked on.

Im giving you my input since the 3.15.2 worked without any problems.
Both drivers should be identical in the Solidworks add-in.

P.S im removing your email address so you dont get spammed.

Good talking to you on the phone.
Im glad i was able to get your Solidworks addin to work and fix the Logitech LCD conflict between both devices.

Thank you for all the help. Button assignments now work but they do not show up on the display. Each button says "application use" even though it is programed with a function and runs that function when the button is pushed. I will re-boot and try again. I just shut down SW after mapping and started again to see if they would display. I will let you know.

Thanks Fred.

I have the Beta on a Win XP machine saw the same thing but after i mapped closed SW, reopened SW, opened a part the functions appeared.
You might have to open the 3Dconrol panel and make sure the correct profile is chosen in the dropdown. Otherwise it will load the default blank screen.

p.s is your co-worker also up and running?

Tried shutting down and re-start of program and computer. No-go. Functions work just no display on SPP panel.

Now that I deleted the keyboard driver I don't have keyboard assignments on my G-keys correctly. Is there a way to display those now?
Do I need to find an old driver for the G-15?

Just when we thought we had it... :)

See if Logitech still offers the last driver before the recent update.
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/support-downloads
Select option 2
Choose Gaming Keyboard G15
Choose download
Select your OS
Choose game panel software Legacy
download and install.
This should give you back your Keyboard functionality and the LCD Manager should be the same as the device.

Actually after running the computer without the G15 program, then re-installing the same driver it is now working. I will test to see if it holds this week. Had all functions on SPP and G15 this morning.

Crossing fingers!

Thanks for your help again.

And have SW list working but no display on the SPP other then "application use" for all buttons. I can deal with that until the beta gets fixed and hopefully resolves the issue.
