Mudbox SpaceNavigator Profile - WIP

Postby harnstein » Tue Jan 31, 2012 5:20 am

Hi,

i made some profile to make the SpaceNavigator work with Mudbox via the Beta 3dxWare- no big deal so far, works quite alright.

It has been mentioned here already:

viewtopic.php?t=4135

(btw. download link exceeded)

Is there a way to change some parameter within the xml-file to center the mouse position so it's not exceeding the drawing space?

For all interested find profile file attached:

Any comments or developments are very welcome!

Whoops ;)

i forgot to mention the related Hotkeys:

Hotkeys need to be set to this to works wit this profile, otherwise the profile needs to be adapted in the GUI.

“Zoom 2” = “L”
“BRUSH SIZE” = “B”
“Pan” = “SHIFT"+"RMB"
“Rotate” = “ALT"+"RMB"

We have written some custom AxisActions that keep the cursor from leaving the window. You can copy them from the ZBrush.xml file to try them out.

They keep the cursor within the window and spring back to the starting position when the user lets go of the device. There are versions with various mouse buttons held down.

We have done some others that aren't listed there for space reasons. You can also write your own.

None of these are going to work as well as having the 3D mouse fully integrated into the application. They are a place to start until that happens.

Thanks,

got it to work finally- it's not really better than the one i already had set up before, but anyway- it's something!

Sure it's bad that if you work with a tablet you have to move the pen far enough out of the recognision area to rotate with the navigator correctly.

And you can move just on one axis at once.

---

Btw, is it on purpose that the standard axes of the navigator are set in a way that you can't press the two buttons? That would be way more ergonomic.

Some years ago i made a workaround to reset all axes so x is y and so on.

Thumb on button one, middlefinger on button two.

I'll have to fix that in this version as well- otherwise it really unpractical to use the buttons effectively.

Maybe you could make a patch to fix / change that easily??

Best,

_h

For the ones who want to try the zbrush-adopted profile for mudbox, here you go:

And again i forgot the mudbox hotkeys applied in this profile:

You’ll have to set

“Rotate” = “Ctrl"+"RMB"
“Pan” = “Alt"+"RMB"

LOL No. But yes you can rearrange the axes much easier with 3DxWare 10 than with the previous versions. That was done just for cases like yours. Admittedly, you need to do it for all your profiles.

Mudbox has been released by Autodesk with 3D mouse support. It works very well.
You don't use this 3DxWare 10 profile.
