It's crashing 3ds Max

Postby philosofix » Sat Jul 02, 2011 1:08 pm

If used in the best way. This software creates a camera in the Layer Manager with every movement of the 3D Mouse. This causes the Layer Manager to redraw. The more objects - the worse it is. I find covering it up with another window helps. Too much of this makes Max crash - not the covering of the Later Manager, the redraw this software creates.

If used in the suggested way, just as dangerous, because after creating a Viewport Camera for it to use does alleviate the redraw, but then applies the movement of this Camera to the Undo.

Makes me think it could be a video driver, though this happens regardless.

It would be wonderful for this to work. It seems it is a doomed situation either way.

hi philosofix,
This software creates a camera in the Layer Manager with every movement of the 3D Mouse.
What do you mean with "every movement"? Whenever you grab-and-release the 3D mouse cap or is the camera being created/destroy continuously whilst you are holding the cap?

Just normal use. Every time the mosue is moved a camera is created in the Layer Manager. This is okay when there are not thousands of objects. When it has to redraw all off the objects, it will eventually crash everytime, unless I cover it up or close it. This is not productive.

The other way is the intended create a camera and then assign the mouse to it. This was it does not create a camera and redraw the Layer Manager. Thought with this method every movement of the assigned camera used for the 3D Mouse becomes part of the Undo.

A creative person likes to view the object from angles. So after spinning it around a couple of times, you have to Undo the camera movements to get back to the part that you really wat to Undo.

This does not makes sense. It would be nice ti have the camera not created in the Layer Manager or in such as way that does not disturb it.

Sudden Jump in Scene

Postby leakingpaint » Wed Jul 13, 2011 10:31 am

I've also experienced issues with 3ds max 2012. when i rotate, pan, zoom with the space pilot pro it seems to work ok but then suddenly the entire scene will zoom extents. Zooms out completely.

It also seems to change when I'm modeling to very slow and then very fast. If i click my model object and hit z on the keyboard things seem to reset and 3d mouse works ok.

Removed

I actually removed the Beta today because it zooms in and out whenever it wants. Profiles also need to be tweaked constantly before you get a satisfactory result and even then... Well this is Beta so it's to be expected, but sadly I cannot work with this version of the driver - it's too frustrating in 3DS Max.
