This is just a bad idea, you're forcing constant pressure on it (via gravity). You're just going to wear the thing out.

I've been doing it for like 6 years, or a very long time. I bought the spacenavigator when it first came out. Never had a problem with it. Have you ever taken one apart? It's not really prone to wearing out from something like that. If it does, the rubber is easily replaced. It only deflects a very small amount, but it's enough to set it off.

Perhaps adjusting the deadzone setting would help with this?

Is there a chance for exponential response of the axes?
This is interesting. Can you give us some for info on why you'd like to see an exponential response?

A min/max deadzone would be very useful too. To shorten the travel you need for 100% axis response.

Again, secon'd... both very useful to tweak your joystick experience (and both present in comon joystic control panels e.g. Logitech's)

the characteristics should be have 3 options, though: log/lin/exp for more precise control at either minimal or maximal deflection.

And while we're at it, "zones" (were already requested, IIRC) plus an option to configure an axis as joystick and trigger a keypress at full deflection.
Good example for zones would be the Z axis for crouch/lay down in FPS games, multiple numeric parameters for workstations or mediaplayers (e.g. emulate jog/shuttle)
application for the lattter engaging afterburner in flight sims, well, pardon me, games...

You can't assign the Enter key there. What do you want to do with the Enter key on an axis (so we can think about it)?

I'm sorry, but what is the benefit to limiting what users can or cannot assign to buttons/axis? Why not simply give the user the ability to assign any key/combination of keys to any axis or button? Just because you have not thought of a reason it would be useful, doesn't mean that someone won't find a way to make it useful in some random application that they use and you've never heard of.

BTW, I'm really excited about the concept of the this driver, and can't wait to be able to try it out (I have a SpacePilot).

Interesting - I've just noticed how many fresh registered members are on this board right now. Makes one wonder, how comes? :)

I watched the video example of using the 10 beta driver with Internet IE but must be missing something.
Without reading the plithera of postings can someone point me in the direction of setting up my Space Pilot Pro the same way....

Thanks,
Antone :?

Because of the new driver, and what it does, and doesn't do.

If I did that it would affect the way it operates and would require me to deflect it more than I like when it's in normal operation. No, the best way is to have a button to turn the driver on and off. I can do it by stopping the driver on screen, but it would be easier just to hit one of the buttons to turn it off or on, since it's something physical that I can hit without having to access the computer.

You can define this yourself and assign it to a button. 3DxWare 10 allows you to assign scripts and executables that you define to a button (or axis).

Positioned that way, the weight of the cap is enough to displace the optical sensor and the device will start to send data to the host computer as if the user was grabbing the cap.

If you'd like to "switch off" the data flow, you can try recalibrating the device to define the new configuration as the "rest position". You will need to repeat the process whenever you change the device orientation.

I find it very interesting that you decided to velcro your 3D mouse to the tablet. Would it be possible to post a picture of it?

It's just to the left under the option keys on the wacom intuos's I own. I have multiple systems configured this way since I use like 3 or 4 computers on a daily basis. My tablet's are pretty dirty and used though so wouldn't feel like taking pictures of them. I also use a custom surface on them that tends to pick up dirt since it has a bit of texture to it.

I use nostromo n52tes with my left hand for all my hotkeys, so with my right I continually switch between the tablet and the spacenavigators when working with 3dsmax or other programs. This is the most ergonomic and fastest method I've found.

Mixed Feedback

Postby racoutu » Mon Apr 25, 2011 9:31 am

1: Seems to work very well with most Autodesk 2012 products.

2: Does not work well with Adobe photoshop Both 32 and 64 bit versions.

3: Adding or changing a profile is very clunck and most times does not work.

4: Adding profile for an Autodesk product that does not include a profile alrready; I tried to add Mudbox 2012 but got a error. Even after you get a profile it does nothing more then zoom. will not pan or orbit.

More feedback to come.

I'm just going to chant zBrush, zBrush, zBrush ... Using the existing profile creation tools it seems to be impossible to create a Profile for zBrush. We need more options. More POWER!

First we need more modifier keys than crtl, shift and alt. For example in DeepPaint you hold the R key to rotate view.

zBrush could work if we had a drag from this point type option where it could hit the pan, scale and rotate buttons in the UI. Here's a cool idea, button recognition. Paste a picture of a button into the 3Dx driver, then tell the driver how to manipulate the button for correct effect.
