do you mean the 'Enter' key in the Macro Editor? I'm not sure with this one, but if I remember correctly it is not possible yet. For the axis assignment it should work.

What page are you refering to? Buttons? Advanced Motion?

so far so good. The only things I have noticed are some issues trying to run with 3D Via Composer (which I don't think is supported yet), and the other thing was when I would use the CTRL button on my SP Pro in Bluebeam Revu, the button stays locked on and I have to shutdown Bluebeam to unlock the CTRL focus? Still getting used to the Pro as I only had the Space Traveler before. Anyone have an idea?

NX macro functionality

Postby JHTH » Mon Apr 18, 2011 1:04 am

As the ability to create/edit button assignments for UGS NX seems to have been removed (can this please be put back in somewhere?), can anyone advise me on how to add 'Ctrl + Shift' to one button and 'F4' to another? Looking at other posts I'm guessing it's possible by editing the XML but I'll take your advice on that.

This was a problem in the first public beta. It was fixed for the version that is now on the web site. Please install the new version (beta 9 or newer).

Hell yes! THIS will make the 3D mouse for more useable, and I suspect more popular.

Um.. what??? No zbrush support? I thought this was supposed to work with any app?

Current plans are to get it working with lightwave 9.xx, explorer, and hopefully in the near future Zbrush.

Hmmm.. I don't see an edit button on my post. In explorer 9 64 bit, whenever I use the back or foreward button to back up a page or go foreward, I get an unhandled exception message from the 3d mouse driver.

It craps out, but if I change the explorer settings in the 3d mouse control panel, it restores functionality to the 3d mouse in explorer.

Maybe adding tilt left/right to the 3d mouse controls is an easy workaround, since the desire to click those buttons would no longer be there?

You mean Internet Explorer 9?

Which buttons are you pressing? What device? What action names are those buttons assigned to, precisely?

Not sure I understand you here.

Yep, explorer 9.
The buttons are the onscreen explorer buttons next to the address bar on the upper left for going back a page, or forewards to a previousl visited web page.

Device here is a personal space navigator.

When I tilt the 3d mouse up or down, the web pages scrolls up and down. when I tilt the mouse left and right, the web page scrolls left and right.

Instead of scrolling left or right (pretty worthless on my widescreen monitor) it miht be nice to enable it to go back a page (left tilt) or forewards a page (right tilt).

I also note that the "right 3d mouse button" is supposed to pen the mouse menu, when in fact the left 3d mouse button opens it up.

I looked at the settings menu for explorer, but either its partially inoperable, or some items are "locked" (or possibly it isn't as intuative as it could be?)

Specifically I couldn't see how to change tilt left (or right) to web page page foreward or web page back.

Hope that helps, and its killer to see such a quick response!

I can't reproduce that now, but we'll keep an eye out for it.

This is because there is no horizontal scrolling available. The entire document width is shown.

You can assign <shift>+<leftarrow> and <shift>+<rightarrow> to the axis to go backwards and forwards. But you can't define those until you get the next beta (beta 10).

It may have in some applications in the past, it is now under the left button now, consistently.

Glad to help. Thanks for telling us what you are seeing.

Good to hear that its being added in the next build. Maybe this forward page/back page option could be substituted instead of the default horizontal scroll option?

(I'd think more users would find it useful instead of horizontal scrolling.)

default application profiles

Postby agr1259 » Tue Apr 19, 2011 8:48 am

forgive me if this has already been covered. I have a SpaceNavigator and I just installed beta 9.

Where do I find the default application profiles? Can I delete them? I would like the mouse to function the same on all of my 2D apps/screens unless I create a specific profile for an application. so I would like to get rid of all 2D profiles except the default.

the Internet Explorer profile will not allow the mouse to move it only provides scroll functionality and the only option for any axis is "Application Macros"

I can't figure out how to assign the enter key to an axis. Any other key stroke works but pressing enter just saves the changes.

I can't get a left mouse click to work when assigned to an axis. Is there a trick to get that to work?

If there is no profile for an app, the "Default Profile" gets used. You can edit that in the Properties... editor to have it do anything you want. Other than that, you can always change anything on any profile where you don't like our defaults (IE, Explorer, etc).

What do you mean by "allow the mouse to move"? Move the cursor? You'll have more flexibility in beta 10.

You can't assign the Enter key there. What do you want to do with the Enter key on an axis (so we can think about it)?

The Left Mouse Button is just a modifier on something else, like a Mouse X move. You can't actuate it all by itself. Again, what is your intention there? It is rare to think of your 2D mouse automatically pressing the left mouse button when you move it across the table, instead of moving the cursor.

Yes but can I delete the predefined profiles? I don't want to have to go through each one of them and modify when I want them all to be the same.

In IE the Space navigator will not control the cursor. Only scroll movement and zoom. I linked a screen shot if what I get for the IE profile.
http://prntscr.com/1rhx2

I wanted to assign the enter key to an axis as a work around for not being able to assign the left click when pushing down on the knob. on my XP machine I had the RBC driver running and I could assign the left mouse click when I pushed the knob down part way and a double click by pressing it down even farther, then right click was assigned to lifting the knob. I have the SpaceNavigator so i only have 2 buttons and it seems silly to have to move my hand back to a standard 2D mouse just to click a button.[/img]
