Autodesk Inventor Button Mapping - SpaceNavigator

Postby jmi-chuck » Thu Apr 14, 2011 9:36 am

The very first thing that turned me off was that fact that I didn't have the ability to map to both buttons. I utilize both my buttons on the space navigator along with the two "thumb" buttons that I have on my mouse and they both both together well. I NEED THIS OPTION.

Thank you

Hi jmi-chuck,

The "Menu" button is assigned to the "Popup Menu". Please see this post for more information.

It applies to both 3DxWare 10 and 3DxSoftware v. 3.13 and newer.

popup menu

Postby jmi-chuck » Thu Apr 14, 2011 12:32 pm

Gnomes,

If I understand correctly. i can now assign many functions to the "pop-up" menu. If that's the case. That is a huge advantage.

The "Popup Menu" includes shortcuts to several different functions. You can see an description of the popup menu in the "3D Mouse News" panel or the Help file (Start menu -> All Programs -> 3Dconnexion -> Documentation).

The Popup Menu works as any other contextual user interface element. You will see that some functions become available/unavailable depending on the context and application. It is not user-editable.

OK now I'm worried. If what i need isn't available to me then I need to get used to a whole new workflow. When functionality is added, like what your doing in the 10 driver, you shouldn't remove other functionality that your customers have been useing for years.

I will re-install this new beta and try out to get a better feel for what we're dealing with.

Thank you for your quick replies, they have been helpful

Left Button

Postby Bill_601 » Sat Apr 16, 2011 9:03 am

I need and want the programmability of the left button restored.

How about we reprogram your mouse driver so right-click pops up the mouse configuration menu instead of what your used to? Sound convenient?

I agree with Bill_601. This is too important of a feature to remove.

I agree with jmi-chuck. I have rolled back to 3.12.3 (from 2/11/2011) until they fix this issue.
Anyone have any temporary workarounds?

I also need the left button to be programmable. I'm going back to 3.12.3 until this is resolved.

The left button can be freed up for your own use in the next beta.
