I don't have BodyPaint, but this is a know issue. Cinema4D supports 3D mice natively, and using a profile with '3D mouse' movement of the axis can make the device non responsive. A similar problem is with AcrobatReader.

I'll post later for a solution, for now use the default BodyPaint profile. Leaving the axis assignment as it is, and only changing the button assignment should work, theoretically.

We do take pride in listening to our customers and value the input we have received so far.

We're also looking forward to continuing the discussion and, in order to maintain the different discussions on-topic, we have moved the posts on SpacePilot support request to the No SpacePilot support in 3DxWare 10 Beta.

3Dconnexion continuously reviews the specification of 3DxWare Beta 10 -- that's the whole point of the Beta Program initiated only a few days ago -- and we would like to invite our customers (SpacePilot users or otherwise) to participate in the survey in the Adding SpacePilot support to 3DxWare 10.

I just remembered how to setup for the 3Dmouse in BodyPaint and I can change settings for 3dconnexion through Window->3Dconnexion. so the best solution for the known issue should be not to create a specific profile for it.

By the way, I really wish I could utilize the device in ZBrush in the future release of 3DxWare10.

I hope there are plans to make that functionality available on Linux as well. If so, any estimates (or guesstimates) yet?

Default Profile

Postby Durahl » Tue Apr 05, 2011 10:33 am

I've been wondering if it's possible to alter the Default Profile or have a Profile assigned when in Desktop/Taskbar?

The Reason I'm asking is:
When in Windows Explorer the LCD reads Windows Explorer as the running Profile.
IF I set the 6D Cap to behave like a 2D Mouse I can control the Window like I'd do with a Mouse.
But once on the Desktop or even just the Taskbar the LCD reads Default Profile which cannot be edited forcing me to use the regular Mouse again.

Pretty much any Application can be controlled via 2D Mouse emulation but I't just not possible to work or even switch inbetween them as the Profile for the Program holding them together ( Windows Desktop ) can't be edited and a 2D Mouse is not "installed".

The taskbar and the windows background are explicitly excluded from profile selection. This was done to get the systray icon to work backwardly compatible with 3DxWare 6.

You shouldn't have any problems editing the default profile. What issues are you seeing? Keep in mind that editing the default profile may affect more than just one app.

See this thread for desktop 2D mouse usage.

Hi ewatk,

where are the preferences located in OSX?

You can find these in ~/Library/Preferences. Look for filenames starting with "com.3dconnexion.". The specific file you're interested in is com.3dconnexion.mappings.plist. Be sure the 3Dconnexion preference pane is not open when you delete it.

very nice beta

Postby BeCamilo » Tue Apr 05, 2011 3:16 pm

it's great,
and I don't know if this is already mention, but I have the Space Pilot Pro in MacOSX, and it would be great that you can put an 'alias' or a custom name to the functions of your personalized profiles so in the LCD they appear shorter and you really can see all, because right now is all the new 'use' of the button that appears and when you put a keystroke you can not see what is the keystroke because is to large and you only see "keystroke comma..." and when you have a lot of buttons and applications is hard to remember all hehe

but, again thank you very much!

I would love to be able to assign names to the buttons so they show up in the LCD, for instance assign the name undo so that "undo" shows up on the LCD instead of command Z or Control z

Hi desrux,
Why is SpaceTraveler3 USB not supported in the 3DxWare 10 Beta?
3DxWare 10 supports all current 3Dconnexion products. Following customer feedback, we'll be adding support for the SpacePilot in Beta 10. The SpacePilot was only recently discontinued and is sill actively supported.

The SpaceTraveler was discontinued in early 2008 and is no longer a supported product.

enter?

Postby iuppiter » Fri Apr 15, 2011 3:47 am

Phil999 wrote:so the big moment has come . . . I'm sure we all will be very pleased. From the first impression it looks perfect, with available modifier checkboxes, joystick, keyboard. And a very elegant GUI, considering the vast possibilities that lie under the hood.

It seems that when you create or modify a profile for an application, the application has to restarted until the new profile takes effect. For Explorer:2D mouse/mouse wheel/reverse checkbox, I even had to reboot. Closing the explorer window was not enough, the mouse wheel direction was not reversed. This might be one of the 'traps' when first using this new software. If something doesn't work immediately, close and reopen the application, or, like with Explorer, reboot.

How can I insert the "enter" command in the keyboard modifier?
Thanks
