Hello! Just a reminder on how to enable the 3dXonnexion drivers when you upgrade your version of Google SketchUp:

From the installation directory of your old version, copy the following:

1. the file "Plugins\3DxSketchUp.rb"
2. the folder "Plugins\3DxSketchUp"

to the same location in the installation directory of you new version.

For some reason, the Update Wizard does not install the drivers to the new location when you have two versions installed (as most SketchUp users tend to have for a while after a version upgrade).

I know this has been covered in other topics, but it took me a while to figure it out (again.... I hope this helps!

The 3Dconnexion add-in (Ruby extension) for SU requires modification to support SU8. The code will be available in 3DxSoftware v. 3.12.

We plan to issue a beta build of 3.12 in the coming weeks.

I get my spacenavigator shipped to me but its almost a week getting to me instead of the 2 days via UPS air i paid for (but I was reimbursed, thank you kindly) but now I find out there's not even driver support for the latest version of sketchup---the primary program I wanted this thing for to begin with.

Try the below steps this should work as a workaround until the new driver is released.

You can try the below:

go to:
C:Program Files\3Dconnexion3\Dconnexion 3DxSoftware\3DxSketchUp

create a folder called 3DxSketchUp

copy all files except 3DxSketchUp.rb
place them in the folder you just created.
copy the folder

Next locate the path where you have Sketchup 8 installed.
C:Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 8\Plugins

Paste the folder.
Go back and copy the 3DxSketchUp.rb
place this file in
C:Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 8\Plugins

When done you will have 1 folder and 1 file in the plugins folder.
This should open the addin when you launch the application.

The above may have slightly different paths for 64 bit versions.

3Dconnexion posted today Beta 1 for Release 3.12. It includes support for Google SketchUp 8 on Windows.

Beta software from 3Dconnexion is available from the 3DxLabs web page.

I use my mouse for my pc tower and my macbook, but of course it doesnt work for Sketchup 8 on macs....yet....any chance of a beta build for macosx?

The Mac solution is being finalised.

Until the code is release, Mac users should follow the below steps to install the current extension in SU8.

If you ahave SU7 installed alongside SU8, follow these steps:
1) Copy 3DxSketchUp.bundle.plugin and 3DxSketchUp.rb from /Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 7/SketchUp/plugins to /Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 8/SketchUp/plugins ;
2) Start SU8.

If you do not have SketchUp 7 installed, follow these steps:
1) Create a directory called /Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 7/SketchUp/plugins ;
2) Run the 3DxMacWare installer;
3) Copy 3DxSketchUp.bundle.plugin and 3DxSketchUp.rb from /Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 7/SketchUp/plugins to /Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 8/SketchUp/plugins ;
4) Delete /Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 7/SketchUp/plugins ;
5) Start SU8
