rubber peeling off

I have a Space Navigator PE that is about a year old and the outer rubber surface (the part that you grip) is peeling off- is something like this covered under the warranty?

I am having the same problem. Have only been using my Spacenavigator for a month and the rubber on the control where my thumb rests has worn off.
The control works very well, but a little disappointed.
