SolidWorks Connected R2024x breaks 3Dconnexion add-in

Post by JTS »

I updated to R2024 this weekend after the platform update finished and now my Space Mouse won't work.

I've tried the usual stuff.
  • Activate the add-in and set it to load at startup
  • Repair the driver > Reboot > Load SW
  • Uninstall driver > Reboot > Reinstall driver > Reboot > Load SW
  • Uninstall driver & SW > Reboot > Reinstall SW & driver > Reboot > Load SW
All of the above has been unsuccessful.

It appears the add-in will not stay activated after I tick the box in the window, and it will not load at startup no matter how many times I relaunch the software.

I've verified that the driver works by running the 3DConnexion Trainer.
I've submitted a Problem Capture via SW RX as well as reported the issue to 3DConnexion.

Has anyone else experienced the same and been able to solve it?

The 3DxWare officially supports SOLIDWORKS Desktop version, not the 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS Connected version.

Sorry, I must roll back my previous reply, after reading the link https://3dconnexion.com/si/applications ... olidworks/, the 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS Connected version is actually supported. You need get in touch with the 3Dconnexion support for possible new version trouble-shooting.

And it states right there in my original post that I've done just that.

3Dconnexion is working with Dassault Systèmes to resolve this problem.

A update to the SOLIDWORKS add-in is required and will be included in v. 10.8.17 of 3DxWare 10, expected to be released within the next two weeks.

Version 10.8.17 is currently under beta testing and is available for those enrolled in 3Dconnexion's Insider Programme.

A user on the SolidWorks forums (the horrible 3DSwym forum) just informed me that 3DxWare64_v10-6-4_r3119 works on both Win 10 and 11.
I've downloaded that version from the driver archive and can confirm that it works on my system as well.

If a new updated version of 3DxWare is going to take 2 weeks, I suppose rolling back to this older version will be the quickest way to get it working again.

Seemed like 3ds software developers used an old version of 3DxWare SDK, or haven't updated the 3DxWare SDK APIs for some time.

Not really. The SOLIDWORKS add-in is maintained by 3Dconnexion, not Dassault Systèmes. The issue was promptly addressed by Dassault Systèmes and we just need to update the add-in. The add-in supported the pre-release builds of SOLIDWORKS 2024 since v. 10.8.15 of 3DxWare 10.

As mentioned above, customers can use pre-release builds of 3DxWare 10 v. 10.8.17 by enrolled in our beta programme.

Thank you for the clarification, sorry, my bad guess.

Any updates on this?
Installed the SW-connected hotfix, still no 3D mouse connection.

This is a false statement.

3Dconnexion's add-in for SOLIDWORKS is available both for Desktop and Connected.

I'm running a MacBookPro M2 with parallels and solidworks experience, and 3Dconnexion only supported the Win11 driver up to 10.8.14
I am unable to install a driver greater than 10.8.14

Is anyone else running Solidworks on Mac and having the same issue?

Thanks

I was facing the same issue.
was solved by enabling the 3Dconnexion Add-in for SolidWorks From Solidworks Add-ins Setting. (see attached file)
