I would like to know if this is something that is being addressed by the folks who write the drivers. The tip quoted below doesn't really work - it works briefly, but after moving around the model a time or two, it is back to normal.
It is convenient to be able to hold the middle mouse button and zoom to a point, but that doesn't work with Perspective turned on either.
One area that can be greatly benefited with a 3d mouse is in positioning for renderings. Realistic renderings are done with Perspective on. And the framing of a shot is changed when toggling perspective, so switching on and off between arrangement and render is not a complete solution.
