View Centring

Post by David Richardson »

Hello,

I'm using a space navigator with Inventor.

When i centre on an object i want to focus on and rotate around it i might rotate another part of the assembly in front of it by mistake.

If i stop rotating for a fraction of a second, then start rotating in the opposite direction to get back to my object, the view has automatically centred on the other part in the foreground. So now my focus is on the wrong part.

When constraining small items, such as bolts, in tight spaces this can be very frustrating.

Has anyone seen this and, beter still, found a way to disable this?

Thanks

Hello David Richardson,

the navigation with the 3D mouse in Inventor had been implemented by Autodesk. Please address this issue with their Support Team. Thanks.

Hi David,
The 3DConnexion driver is a 3rd party product, so Autodesk have no influence on how the driver works.
I would check the 3DConnexion website and download the latest driver.
One thing you could try, is to turn off Enhanced Highlighting from Application Options / Color tab.
Cheers
Jon.
Jon Dean

i do have the latest drivers. enhanced highlighting was off.

So if 3dc don't design this and Autodesk don't design this I take it no one knows how the interface between the two work! :)

I am sorry for this! This is a complicated situation - I know. The support team at Autodesk mostly is not aware that this part of the support for the 3D mouse had been done by Autodesk. :(
Believe me - it is not the driver, it is Inventor who does the navigation.

We will try to push this on our end as well with the contacts we have.
