3dxware driver for Citrix

I got it to work on my system on both the Program Neighborhood and a Web Interface (published application). All I did was publish the 3Dconnexion driver that a user can start and then launch your 3d application.

Although, I am having issues with the add-in on other systems. I keep getting the same error as you did.

"The wizard was interrupted before 3Dconnexion 3DxWare Add-on For Citrix could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again."

Have you had any luck getting this to work on other systems? Any idea what was/is causing you to get that error on all other systems but your own?

I have been working closely with 3Dconnexion to get this resolved. They have built me a new Citrix Add-In to try and resolve the issue. We are testing it now and hope to have the issues resolved soon.

The packeage is now installing with no errors but some files (dll, ini) are being copied to other locations or not being copied at all. So I cannot get the 3Dconnexion driver to install as a published application like I could before.

Hello. What is the status of getting this driver to work? Have you worked out the problems you were having?

If this is now working, is the driver available somewhere so that I can download it and try it in our environment.

Hi jshaw,

I haven't heard from Chris in a while. He's probably busy doing other things. At last contact he had what appeared to be some permissions problems installing one of the components of the software. We were not able to reproduce this. You may not have the same problems...or if you do maybe you can give us a log file so we can find out what the problem is.

If you want, you can grab the Citrix plugin and give it a try:

It worked fine for him if he worked around his permissions issues (he just manually copied a file to the correct location).

Is it also possible to use the Linux driver for the Space Navigator PE and then use the device with Citrix?

We use Linux thinclients in combination with the Linux Citrix client to connect to a Citrix PS4.5 server which runs Inventor (among other programs).

Any pointers would be very nice! Also I do not mind using a beta driver!

I already downloaded the Citrix add-on .msi, but this does not seem to work.

I believe not. Mixed operating systems environments is a something we do not really see on a our customer base.

Hmm... That's a shame. But you do say "I believe not"? Does that mean that there is a slide change?

And could you tell me if the Space Navigator PE does work with Citrix (when using the Citrix add-on) when I use a Windows XP client?

It means I do not know for sure since I have a limited understanding of the Citrix solution.

I will be following this up and see if we can get it confirmed but I'm expecting a negative answer.

I need more details to understand what you are trying to do:

What operating system is running on the box the SpaceNavigator connected to?

Is Inventor running on that same box, or a different box?

What operating system is running on the box that Inventor is running on?

Sorry for the very, very late response!! I'm trying to do two things here:

1) Connect a SpaceNavigator connected to a thinclient Linux distro to a Windows 2003 R2 server running Citrix PS 4.5.

2) Connect a SpaceNavigator connected to a Windows XP workstation to a Windows 2003 R2 server running Citrix PS 4.5.

Could you tell me what is and what isn' t possible?

I followed the steps you mentioned earlier in this thread, but when I try to start the driver on the server (from within a citrix session) nothing happens and the driver does not start.

What did I do wrong? Any logging I can turn on or check?

Hi Sander,

The only configuration we support is SN attached to a Windows client, talking to a Windows Server. This is because the Citrix add-in we wrote is a Windows process that uses the Windows 3DxWare Driver.

We don't support a Linux client.

OTOH, I was recently informed that our Citrix addin doesn't install correctly with the brand new Citrix client environment. They changed their installation procedure to use the registry, not the module.ini file.

OK, that's clear enough

So I'll drop trying to get it work with the Linux machine. But then I would still love te get it working with the Windows XP machine.

Everything seems to install perfectly without any errors, but when I try to start the driver on the server (from within a Citrix session), nothing happens. Really nothing, so the driver on the server doesn't even start.

Can I debug something or is there any logging so I can check why the driver will not start?

I assume you've followed the directions about having the client side installed but not running anything on the client.

First off, see if the client can actually find the device. Start the driver on the client, while logged into the client. Make sure the demos work. Then stop the driver.

Then you'll have to turn the driver log file on on the server. I assume you don't have a device attached to the server, so you have to do this through registry surgery. Set HKCU/software/3dconnexion/3dxware/LogLevel to ffffffff (it's a REG_SZ). This will write the log file into %appdata%\3dconnexion\3dxware.

If it says it can't find the Citrix (ICA) client, the client installation probably didn't work. What version of the client are you running?
